Rapare 17 Pipiri

This morning, for many, started very early. This morning we celebrated MATARIKI. Matariki celebrates the Maori new year. The Greytown School kapa haka welcomed the Year 8's students and new staff. Mr Andrews lit a bon fire. The new Greytown staff and some year 8 students planted a tree each. Matariki is a good time of the year for planting. We know that it is Matariki when we can see the 7 stars of matariki (the 7 sisters) in the night sky.
